Try on your wardrobe ahead of time!
I think we’ve all been there, and if you haven’t, you’re a lucky soul, but let’s not test your luck any further.
You’ve been envisioning an amazing outfit. The day comes and you put it on and it just falls flat. It didn’t look how you envisioned it. Or you forgot about the stain on the sleeve. Whatever it is, let’s have that discovery when you still have time to figure out other options! If all goes well, yay you no longer have to think about what you’re going to wear!
Confident photos come from comfortable wardrobes. Make sure you aren’t held back by your wardrobe and feel good in what you’re wearing!
2. rest
The night before your portrait session it’s always a good idea to get plenty of rest.
Have a cozy night in, drink plenty of water, and get to bed early!
3. Get to know your face
It will feel silly or awkward at first, but it’s a good idea to get to know your face in the mirror! Smile, laugh, smize, get to know how your face looks. For myself, I know I like the left side of my face better. Seeing what you like or don’t will help you love your photos even more.
4. Think about accessories
Accessories can be a really fun addition to your shoot to make your portrait session even more unique and true to you. Think about some accessories that represent you or would enhance a certain part of your personality! Fun sunglasses, your tennis racket, or your favorite coffee mug. Sometimes we use it, sometimes we don’t, but it’s always a fun addition to have ready!
5. Relax!!!
Sometimes that is so much easier said than done, but it’s really easy to sweat the small things especially when it comes down to portrait sessions. I’m here to tell you none of it matters! The only thing that matters on the day of your portrait session is YOU! As long as you bring yourself to the camera, it’s all going to be amazing. Anything else we can work around. Breathe, relax, you got this!
